Who am I? This is a question I ask myself so often, the short answer is this…
I am a wife, a mother, and a friend. I am creative and artistic, empathic and nurturing. I live in the country, and have a beautiful loyal dog and four feisty pet cows – at a glance you would agree with me, my life is pretty amazing!
I smile a lot, have a curious and sarcastic sense of humour, and have pretty much perfected the act of hiding my illnesses which is something I am darkly proud of! Plus I have a fantastic, loving, supportive husband of more than 16 years who I love dearly, and we have been blessed with two awesome male children who light up my life.
However while my present life and relationships are ones of love and warmth, my past was not so easy and it has left me struggling with depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. After a car accident in 2014 I was also left with moderate spinal damage and ongoing nerve pain. The past few years have been a struggle to survive as my “invisible” illnesses soared to severe limits.
Happily though, through the support of a great team of people, my husband included, I am finally on the road to being able to recover and learn how to manage the invisible illnesses which have, in the past, controlled me and caused me to nearly end my life on several occasions.
